Well done to the Strider men who competed in Avondale today. The course was rough and muddy but our men persevered through the course. The men's over 50s team was the standout finishing 2nd in the club and county competitions. Brendan Lyng came 3rd O50 and led in the team. Next for the team we had John Byrne, John McGrath and George Delaney all excelling in their race. Well done to all our over 50 men, who exemplified the brand of teamwork that our club is known for. Their sights are now firmly set on the national masters next month.

We’d be remiss not to mention the men who ran without a team yet still chose to test their metal through the mud and dirt. Alan O’Connor and John Hickey both ran in over 45 category, using their true grit to get through the harsh competition and harsher hills. Pat O’Callaghan floated along the course, his experience showing through.

Well done to all our men who ran, it’s looking like a fortuitous year for the club already.
